Gateway to Free Motoring

Tesla is setting up a network of free charging stations for Tesla Model S owners in America and Europe. This will essentially make motoring free. Alec Eppstein writes:

John Glenney just became the first person to drive a Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) Model S sedan from coast to coast, using only the manufacturer's network of no-cost Superchargers. That's right: he traveled from New York to Los Angeles for free (notwithstanding the car's roughly $70,000 sticker price).

After arriving in L.A. -- where Glenney dropped off his daughter, Jill, for her flight back to Hoboken, N.J. -- the 62-year-old Kentucky resident proceeded to drive up the California coast. He even made a stop at the Tesla plant in Fremont, where he was greeted with applause and taken on a tour of the facility. "I was really impressed," said Glenney, who's actually purchased four Model S sedans. "It was like a special birthday party."
